Beauty tutorials are big on YouTube — a search for "makeup tutorial" and "hair tutorial" yields more than five million videos. In this weekly series, we put a mix of popular and under-the-radar tutorials to the test and show you what's best.
I don't like mornings, and waking up early just to put on my makeup is... well, let's just say I spend about 30 seconds applying sunscreen and, on a good day, lipstick before I head out the door. But lately, this lack of personal care has left me feeling a little meh. Which is why I went to makeup guru Lisa Eldridge's YouTube channel to see if she had any advice for the perennially lazy.
In "My 5 Minute Makeup Look," Eldridge gets right to it, first applying foundation with her fingers and then using a brush to even the texture out. From there, she moves to the eyes, applying a couple of coats of mascara on both the top and bottom lashes in exactly 25 seconds. (As someone who's used mascara only five times, I have a feeling that it might take me a little bit longer than that.) My favorite part is when Eldridge starts applying a lip liner and a color balm that doesn't require any precision at all. Seriously, none. And what's kind of amazing is that she manages to do all of this with about 30 seconds to spare.
