That was fast. All 1,000 copies of Gisele Bündchen's limited-edition coffee table book — priced at a rather astonishing $700 — are already sold out. The retired Brazilian model, who co-curated a 536-page tome featuring more than 300 photographs from her 20-year-long career, celebrated the launch of "Gisele" on Friday with a book signing in São Paolo. Bündchen announced that each copy had been sold in an Instagram post on Saturday.
A spokesperson for the book's publisher, Taschen, said that the successful sales were a result of preorders for the publisher's initial "Gisele" inventory. As quantities depleted, Taschen was going to offer the book at an even higher price point ($1,000) but the publisher sold out of its entire stock just a day before the book's launch date. According to both Taschen and Bündchen, all proceeds will go towards a charity "close to [the model's] heart." And if you still want to grab yourself a copy, you'll have a chance — and for cheaper. Taschen plans to publish a trade edition batch of "Gisele" next year.
