After Lily James wrapped up her "Cinderella" promo tour earlier this year — outfitted in gowns and dresses that exuded her inner Disney princess — James dyed her locks brown and, working with her stylist, Rebecca Corbin Murray, returned to her tomboy roots for red carpet appearances. As much as we like this post-Disney turn, we were even more taken with the look she wore to accept the "Breakthrough" award at the 2015 Harper's Bazaar Women of the Year Awards on Tuesday evening, which was a bit more romantic in feel than what we've seen from the actress lately.
The ruffled Erdem piece from the British label's spring 2016 collection is less sheer than what was shown on the runway, but that only adds to the actress's elegantly gothic allure. With plenty of embroidered details and a slightly high neckline on display, James pulled her brunette bob back into a tousled chignon. The result is an undone effect that keeps the actress from looking too prim and proper. And while we would rather opt for lighter shoes (both in color and weight) and dismiss the bar drop earrings, we really dig James's dark red lip and patriotic poppy pin.
