Column gowns are like normcore for the red carpet, but actress Alicia Vikander managed to bring life to an otherwise basic piece of formal attire in (surprise!) Louis Vuitton Tuesday night. Along with co-star Eddie Redmayne, she attended the UK premiere of their 1920s film "The Danish Girl," for which the costumes are a sight to see, as they reflect the decade's historic liberations (and Redmayne's character's transition into a woman).
But back to present time and Vikander's ensemble: details like a lush navy hue, an embellished bodice and a raised-and-pointed waistline — it looks way better than it sounds — are what keep this streamlined silhouette interesting. Her accessories are styled to a bare minimum, such as a pair of dangling diamond earrings, a shiny cocktail ring and Redmayne's Valentino plaid-on-plaid suit — another update on a classic.
As Vikander continues to make the red carpet rounds, we can't wait to see what Louis Vuitton look she wears next.
