Nasty Gal has built a big business on nostalgia. First launching as a vintage Ebay store, the Los Angeles-based retailer has since grown to accommodate multiple brands and categories, many of which harken back to a grungier, groovier time. Though the majority of its target customers were born from the late-'80s to the mid-'90s, its merchandise — as well as its expansive social media presence — suggest otherwise.
On Monday, Nasty Gal took to Instagram to reveal an upcoming and shockingly on-brand collaboration with "one of the baddest bitches of all time," Courtney Love. "You guessed it," @nastygal captioned on the above photo. "We're collaborating with rock icon and muse @courtneylove on an exclusive collection (coming soon)!" Nasty Gal's followers seem pretty stoked: For starters, @offwithherheaaad wrote "Courtney Love soak them all in bleach!!!!! Long live the QUEEN!!!" Turns out, millennial gals are really feeling the 51-year-old grunge queen nearly 25 years after Hole's first album came out.
There's a contest, too: Users (and a plus-one) can win a trip to L.A. to attend the collection's launch party on Jan. 13, as well as receive a $1,000 Nasty Gal shopping spree — just post a picture on Instagram of your favorite female musician and describe how her music inspires you. (Actual rules here.)
For now, Nasty Gal is keeping mum on the specifics, but we can assume the collection will become available shortly following its launch party. We reached out to Nasty Gal for more information and will update as we receive details.
