When Rihanna turned up at the 2015 Grammy Awards in a voluminous, ruffled, pink Giambattista Valli gown, some saw sartorial perfection, while others saw dessert-related memes. We honestly saw both, but if you enjoyed the over-the-top femininity of that dress, get ready to drool over Valli's latest couture collection, which hit the runway in Paris on Monday.
The designer once again delivered a beautiful amalgam of all things frothy, feminine and floral. Restraint did not seem to be in his vocabulary when conceiving this collection, but despite the heavy use of ruffles, florals, embroidery, appliqués, sequins, bows, tulle, tulle and more tulle, the end result was utterly charming and romantic. There was even a sense of newness and modernity in many of the silhouettes that provided a valid argument against anyone who might see Valli as a one-trick pony.
From the '60s-inspired mini cocktail dresses and cape-like silhouettes to the alluring off-the-shoulder necklines, there's a lot here that we can't wait to see again — hopefully very soon on the red carpet. See the full Giambattista Valli spring 2016 couture collection in the gallery below.
