We have to applaud the marketing team behind "Zoolander 2" for tapping into every fashion industry promo opportunity before the film hits theaters next month. There was the surprise Valentino runway appearance nearly a year ago, a L'Uomo Vogue cover, a supposed Cîroc ad and, most recently, the February 2016 cover of American Vogue. And let's not forget Kristen Wiig's unforgettable portrayal as a botched beauty guru in an infomercial parody for Youth Milk.
But a Vogue cover just isn't enough for the ridiculously good looking model — clearly he wants to target the male demographic as well. Esquire UK will release three covers for its March 2016 issue featuring the "internationally famous" male model. The men's magazine celebrates its special style issue with all of the season's new looks... of Zoolander's face, that is. He introduces "Blue Iron" (perhaps a Blue Steel upgrade), "The Stare" (self-explanatory, we suppose) and, er, "Arctic Char."
Head on over to Esquire.co.uk for a behind-the-scenes video of the cover shoot. Not only will you get to see Blue Steel in action, but Zoolander drops some truth bombs about clothes, himself and how ping-pong is a metaphor for "how balls bounce in your life."
