Gucci Creative Director Alessandro Michele Hit the Oscars As Jared Leto's Date
At Sunday's 88th Academy Awards, presenter Jared Leto arrived with a very exciting date in tow: Gucci's enigmatic, luscious-haired creative director, Alessandro Michele, who booked it to Los Angeles after showing his fall 2016 ready-to-wear collection in Milan on Wednesday. As the recently named face of the Italian fashion house's Guilty fragrance, there was no question that Leto would hit the Oscars in one of Michele's eccentric, vintage-tinged creations — though we certainly did not expect that he would bring the designer with him on the red carpet.
But cute that he did, right?
In addition to Michele walking the red carpet alongside Leto, he made many an appearance on Gucci's Snapchat, which the actor took over for the evening. You should check it out yourself, but we'll just say that the two selfie like 16-year-old BFFs about to hop in a stretch limo en route to junior prom. Just check the matching Gucci loafers.
For next year's Oscars, we'd like to propose that Karl Lagerfeld join Julianne Moore on the red carpet, or Nicolas Ghesquière walk with Alicia Vikander. As Michele's design work grows more in-demand, perhaps his celebrity will continue to increase — which we definitely wouldn't complain about. We all need more @lallo25 in our lives.
