To say that transgender model and LGBTQ advocate Andreja Pejic has helped to revolutionize the industry when it comes to issues of gender and trans acceptance would be the understatement of the century. Not only did she very publicly announce her sexual reassignment surgery and document her experiences for a forthcoming film, but she was also the first transgender model to ever receive a profile in American Vogue. Pejic has done plenty of modeling since her transition — from runways to cosmetics campaigns to bikini-clad editorials — but a fashion magazine cover has eluded her, until now.

Pejic is the March 2016 cover star of Marie Claire Spain, marking a major milestone for the 24-year-old. Before transitioning, Pejic covered some of the industry's edgiest and forward-thinking titles, including i-D, L'Officiel and, most notably, New York magazine's fall fashion issue in 2011. This may be her first cover as a female, but we're very confident it won't be even close to her last.
