The great Cate Blanchett attended this year's Costume Designers Guild Awards in a custom Atelier Versace gown. Blanchett was given the Lacoste Spotlight Award on Tuesday night, and was honored for her support for costume design, as well as her wonderfully dressed roles. The actress's slinky-looking, black gown is made entirely out of chain mail with high slits at the side and a cutout on the back. The diamond bib necklace, Blanchett's only accessory, hails from Tiffany & Co.

"We loved how the metallic chain mail contrasted with the sparkle of the diamonds," said Blanchett's stylist Elizabeth Stewart over email with Fashionista. "It's an unusual twist on a very classic look." If anyone can pull off an "unusual twist," it's Blanchett. On Sunday night, Blanchett is up for an Oscar for her lead role in "Carol," and we can't wait to see what she and Stewart come up with next.
