If there's anyone who Kanye West loves as much as Kanye loves Kanye it's Demna Gvasalia. He's been raving about the Georgian designer and his Paris-based ready-to-wear label Vetements since its debut in 2014. And the two fellow designers have become good friends over time. In an interview with Dirk Standen last year, West shared that he would send texts to Gvasalia while he was working on Yeezy Season 2 with stylist Joe McKenna. Gvasalia, who is also Balenciaga's newly hired artistic director, showed his support at West's Yeezy Season 3 and "The Life of Pablo" premiere at Madison Square Garden during New York Fashion Week. So it's safe to the say that the two are pretty close — so close that West feels he has enough pull to "steal" the designer from his top role at the French fashion house, just four months after he started.
Like most of the claims West makes on Twitter these days (remember when he said Kylie Jenner didn't have a Puma contract?), this one should be taken with a grain of salt. We have a feeling that poaching your designer buddy from a place like Kering-owned Balenciaga might be a tad difficult. But it seems safe to say that West will be seated front row at Gvasalia's debut show in Paris next week.
In other "What's Kanye Tweeting This Time?" news, he also promises to hook us all up with "free Yeezys and Adidas." Happy Hump Day to us all.
Update: A previous version of this article has been updated to note that Balenciaga is owned by Kering not LVMH.
