Hemlines Came Up as the Rain Came Down on Day 6 of NYFW

With temperatures in the 50s, it was basically tankini weather as far as fashion people were concerned.

Remember when it felt like sub-zero temperatures this past weekend? Just to keep us on our toes, New York City delivered a very rainy day in the 50-degree Fahrenheit range on Tuesday, as show-goers braved the precipitation to check out the latest offerings from Tory Burch, Rodarte and Oscar de la Renta. Brave souls took this as an opportunity to don short skirts, with and without tights, which they balanced out with fluffier coats and boots. (Model Irene Kim, above, center, is a notable exception in open-toe mules and just a leather jacket. Impressive!) Another popular approach to the rain was jeans and sneakers, always a dependable and practical look. But, in a strange twist, we spotted not a single pair of Stan Smiths. We look forward to their street style return three years from now, as a throwback to the throwback.
