Versace debuted its Palazzo Empire bag on Tuesday with a video campaign featuring Bella Hadid, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley and Stella Maxwell. Directed by Gordon von Steiner in collaboration with creative director Giovanni Bianco, the clip starts with each model crawling across a table towards their new leather handbags. You can tell things are going to go from zero to 100 real quick.
As soon as they unfasten the bag's Medusa head latch, the models get, well, sorta sexual about it — "the new object of desire," as Versace's press release describes the purse. Set against a percussion-and-panting-heavy soundtrack ("Ego" by Louisahhh), the video's portrayal of buying this bag is a bit like when you open a can of Pepsi or bite into a York Peppermint Pattie, or like when you have a piece of Wrigley 5 gum and it's supposed to make you feel as though you're being enveloped by millions of tiny, vibrating metal balls. Yeah, exactly like that.
