If you mistook the photo above for a paraffin wax treatment ad, you're not alone. Those bright red finger adornments are actually gloves made of 100 percent leather — "finger condoms," as my colleague Chantal dubbed them. They're designed by Vetements, which is no surprise given that the Parisian fashion collective is known for turning everyday silhouettes and styles on their heads.
The gloves cost a whopping $535, though that's chump change compared to the rest of the brand's high-end offerings, and if purchased, directions for how to wear to them come included. As of yesterday, the gloves were sold out on Totokaelo's website. (One customer, "Allura H.," had posted the question to the retailer, "Do you think you will be getting any more of these in?") Fortunately, the gloves were available again today, which means there must have been a restock or a return. (Now's your chance, Allura H.!)
If you were wondering about fit, model Nora is wearing a small. She's 5'9" and usually wears a size small top, because this relates in every way to the proportion of one's digits. And if red is not your style, these thingies will be coming soon in black.
