This has been one hell of a year so far for Ashley Graham. In addition to her groundbreaking Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue cover, a new clothing line with Dressbarn, finding out her lingerie line with Addition Elle brought in over $1M in sales and campaigning for Forever21's new activewear collection, the plus-size model has landed another milestone cover — specifically, the April issue of Maxim, which features Graham (kind of) wearing a button-down shirt with nothing underneath.
Ever since Kate Lanphear's departure as editor-in-chief last year, the men's publication has stepped away from its shift in editorial strategy to focus on lifestyle and luxury and moved right back into "lad mag" territory. Since the start of the new year, Maxim has featured models Alessandra Ambrosio, Elsa Hosk and Hannah Davis on its monthly covers showing much more skin — save for a newspaper, necklace or tiny two-piece — than previous issues. But this doesn't mean the magazine is regressing: In fact, this issue marks the first time that the U.S. edition of Maxim has ever featured a plus-sized model on its cover. (Maxim Australia featured Robyn Lawley on the cover of its Feb. 2016 issue.)
