Who needs to send an e-mail blast when you can tweet your news to an audience of nearly 3.63 million? Such is the case for Saint Laurent, which, on Wednesday morning, released four new images of Cara Delevingne modeling the French fashion house's "La Collection de Paris," shown in the city of light on March 7. According to Twitter, creative director Hedi Slimane photographed Delevingne in New York City on March 17. So while much of the city's population was bar-hopping in green apparel, Delevingne was flexing in three looks from the couture-esque fall collection, including a sleek tuxedo, an '80s-inspired sequined dress with an oversized belt and the intimate show's memorable fur coat in the shape of a cartoon heart.
The new imagery arrives just a few days after Saint Laurent released another campaign with iconic French model and actress Jane Birkin in the label's signature Le Smoking tuxedo. Although this was Birkin's first-ever stint with Slimane and the luxury brand, Delevingne's relationship with the Los Angeles-based designer spans four years, with milestones including Saint Laurent's "faceless" fall 2013 campaign and the model's wax figure at Madame Tussauds in London, which will forever wear a Saint Laurent replica dress. Could casting Delevingne, who models significantly less since beginning her acting career, be another sign that this collection is Slimane's swan song? We'll have to wait and see.
