Update 4/1: APRIL FOOLS
Italian fashion blogger Chiara Ferragni, the most influential in the world by our own calculations, revealed that she has been misleading her 5.7 million Instagram followers in thousands of posts, all of which feature the hashtag #TheBlondeSaladNeverStops. She confirmed on Friday that while she will continue blogging, she plans to otherwise stop.
Over the years, Ferragni was known to use the hashtag to accompany pictures of herself doing everything from standing next to luggage to covering a magazine to, simply, wearing an outfit — leading us all to assume that she literally never stops. Apparently she does. "I'm human, and humans stop," she told Fashionista.
The integrity of personal style bloggers such as Ferragni has long been called into question for many of their less-than-ethical practices, like not disclosing sponsored posts. Here's yet another reason we have a hard time trusting these men and women as they rake in millions from their increasingly influential (and, clearly, misleading) Instagram accounts.
No word yet on what hashtag she'll now be favoring instead of #TheBlondeSaladNeverStops, but for a more detailed explanation about why Ferragni has stopped, head here.
