Just when you thought you were safe from the thrilling red carpet fashion commentary of Giuliana Rancic et al. comes news that surely heralds the fashion apocalypse: E!'s "Live from the Red Carpet" will be, well, live from the Met Gala red carpet.
The press release threatens — err, promises — "wall-to-wall on-air and digital coverage" of the event from Rancic, alongside Zanna Roberts Rassi, Olivia Culpo and Johnny Wujek. Catt Sadler and Zuri Hall are on red carpet duty, which can only be a marked improvement from Hilary Rhoda's disastrous turn as interviewer at the 2013 punk-themed Met Gala. Everything kicks off at 7 p.m., when "E! News" will be providing their take on expected trends for the evening, before rolling over to Rancic at 7:30.
As usual, the red carpet fun doesn't stop there: Melissa Rivers, Brad Goreski, Margaret Cho, NeNe Leakes and Tim Gunn will be breaking down all the looks on "Fashion Police" the following night (Tuesday) at 8 p.m. The Met Gala was one of the few places celebrities actually still took risks on the red carpet, and while that may already be changing, it would be a shame for this kind of coverage to dilute the fun of fashion's biggest night.
Still, it might be worth it for the chance to see Anna Wintour face Rancic head-to-head on a red carpet. Silver linings, people!
