It's been an exciting few days for New York-based fashion designer Jason Wu. Over the weekend, he married his longtime beau in Tulum, and photos of the heartwarming fiesta flooded our Instagram feeds. But it looks like the newlyweds didn't immediately set off on a honeymoon, as Wu took to the same photo sharing app on Tuesday morning to break the news of his new sister label that's launching for spring.
According to a series of Instagram posts, the collection is called Grey Jason Wu, and it's inspired by his friends' personal style. Considering his close-knit crew includes style stars like Diane Kruger, Caroline Issa and Jane Keltner de Valle, we already have an inkling that the line will be ladylike, well-tailored, easy-to-wear and just a little bit whimsical. In the announcement, Wu suggests that the pieces will be "seasonless," and that they'll be "neither too edgy nor sweet" with a "sense of relaxed sophistication." Color us intrigued.
In addition, Grey Jason Wu will enlist artists to collaborate on prints and fabrics — the first being Hunt Slonem, who's known for his paintings of animals such as bunnies, cockatoos and cats. As for the price point, it's an advanced contemporary line with pieces ranging from $295 - $1395. Wu has worked with Nordstrom (which carried his Miss Wu collection) and Target in the past to bring his feminine aesthetic to customers at a more accessible cost, and this diffusion line will likely appeal to his younger fans as well.
Grey Jason Wu will be available online through its website, greyjasonwu.com, as well as at Bergdorf Goodman, Neiman Marcus and Nordstrom starting in June 2016.
