Only Olivia Wilde could get away with posting a photo of her and Vice President Joe Biden on Instagram with the caption, "Nerds." The two crossed paths at Tuesday evening's Annual McGovern-Dole Leadership Award Ceremony, an annual event hosted by World Program USA in Washington D.C., where both Wilde and Biden presented Michael Kors with an award to honor his efforts against global hunger. (He launched the initiative Watch Hunger Stop in 2013.) To celebrate the occasion, the actress naturally wore items from the designer's namesake label: a sophisticated bow blouse paired with a party-friendly streamer skirt from his fall 2016 collection, made from silk georgette and embroidered with sequins.
For such a special event, a more prim and proper look was key, which called for a pair of nude suede pumps and a clean ponytail. But that didn't stop Wilde from adding a bit of her own personal style to last night's ensemble. This is, after all, an actress who can sport floor-length florals by Dolce & Gabbana, a Valentino gown made up of mini-pleats and every desirable '70s outfit on her HBO show "Vinyl" with total ease. Wilde added the right amount of edge with her jewelry, which was a collection of varied baubles from layered rings to mismatched studs. The accessorized look was luckily caught on camera as Wilde and Biden shared a moment before taking the ceremony stage.
