Rihanna's lifestyle empire is about to get bigger. According to WWD, the singer has signed a deal with the Kendo division of LVMH to do a complete makeup line called Fenty Beauty, set to launch in September 2017. While not much detail was given, the deal was estimated to have been worth up to $10 million.
"Fenty Beauty by Rihanna is a beauty rocket ship that will appeal to a huge and diverse global audience," David Suliteanu, chief executive officer of Kendo, told WWD. "We are aiming for the stars." Well, if that's the case, they certainly couldn't have asked for a more marketable celebrity than Rihanna. In just the past year alone, the 28-year-old singer's collaborated with Manolo Blahnik on a capsule collection and debuted her first Fenty collection for Puma during New York Fashion Week. In beauty, Riri's previously worked with MAC on a cosmetics collection and Vivia Glam lipstick in 2013 and 2014, respectively; and released seven fragrances with Parlux Ltd. But it sounds like this will mark her biggest foray yet, and if the success of her previous collaborations are anything to go by, a smart move on LVMH's part. Kendo is also behind Marc Jacobs Beauty and Bite Beauty.
UPDATE, Aug. 1, 3:00 p.m.: Rihanna took to Instagram on Tuesday afternoon to announce an official launch date for Fenty Beauty: Sept. 8, 2017. It's worth noting that this is just two days before the Fenty Puma show during New York Fashion Week, which is scheduled for Sunday, Sept. 10. According to the Instagram caption, Fenty Beauty "will be available Globally at Sephora and Harvey Nichols." Makeup addicts, Rihanna obsessives, everyone — start mentally preparing now.
