Chanel hosted its 11th annual dinner on Monday night to celebrate the 2016 Tribeca Film Festival. Appropriately, the guests in attendance decked themselves out in the French label, including Tavi Gevinson, the Rookie editor and actress who's currently appearing in her newest Broadway gig, "The Crucible," alongside Saoirse Ronan and Ben Wishaw.
The cool thing about Gevinson is that she can pluck a style from any decade and make it her own, even if it's a head-to-toe look provided by a high-end fashion house. Her dinner ensemble, a multicolored striped tank and high-waisted, wide-leg silk tweed pants, hails from Chanel's 2016 cruise collection shown in Seoul. On Gevinson, however, it's as if she happily skipped out of a '70s summer catalog. At first glance, we would immediately think this outfit was entirely vintage, because this is Tavi and she is a retro-style chameleon queen. (Last time we saw her, she successfully got beamed out of the '60s.)
Pastel-hued accessories, like her pink quilted bag and turquoise "Première Rock Pop" watch, both from the brand's spring accessories range, finish the colorful look. For beauty, Gevinson keeps her makeup minimal and her signature short crop sleek and clean. If you're planning for your next summer vacation, we suggest you hit up your nearest thrift shop and use this as your only sartorial inspiration.
