Whitney Port to Collaborate With Target on an Activewear Line [UPDATED]

The Whitney Eve designer pitched herself to the retail giant — and it worked.

Whitney Port, perhaps better known in some circles as The Girl Who Did Go to Paris, reportedly has a new gig beyond the lifestyle blogging she's been doing over at WhitneyPort.com. (Did you catch her "Healthy Berry Blast Smoothie" recipe last month? Girl knows her way around a Vitamix.) The 31-year-old reality TV personality-turned-Whitney Eve designer has an activewear collaboration with Target in the works, according to a new report in WWD. The piece mentions that Port pitched herself to the mega-retailer "on a friend's recommendation," and, well, it worked. Multiple reps for Target did not immediately respond to our requests for comment.

Per WWD, the athleisure collection is set for release during the back-t0-school shopping season, and will draw influence from her years as a ballet dancer. While this will surely deliver a hefty serving of pinky nudes and dainty silhouettes, Port also has plans to include the "feminine and funky prints" seen in her Whitney Eve line.

This collaboration would fall hot on the heels of Target's explosive SoulCycle partnership, which included a 10-city tour this winter in addition to merchandise. This, of course, begs the question: How will Port's range compare to SoulCycle's, which was loaded with muscle tanks, T-shirts and sweatpants, ranging in price from $29-$49? Will Port lead her own celebratory exercise class, set to the tune of Natasha Bedingfield's "Unwritten" played on loop? Will Kelly Cutrone handle the PR? Will each purchase come with a complementary green juice, which, judging from Port's Instagram, she loves?

UPDATE, 4/8: On Friday, Target sent us confirmation that Port is, in fact, collaborating with the mega-retailer — though it won't be on par with previous partnerships. Instead, this will be a collection that Port has designed and Target will sell at Target.com. In a statement provided to Fashionista, Target said:

Whitney Port has created an activewear line and it will be available on Target.com beginning in September 2016. The line will include approximately 16 items such as tanks, leggings, bralettes, and jackets. The pieces will range in price from $19.99 to $49.99.
