We got a first look into Artistic Director Demna Gvasalia's new vision for Balenciaga during his fall 2016 runway show in March, but otherwise the French brand has been keeping things quiet, bypassing the Met Gala and preparing for its first ever menswear show in June.
However, it appears the first print campaign image from the Gvasalia chapter has already emerged, quietly hitting the Internet a week ago. The spring eyewear advertisement stars Brooklyn-based model Marland Backus — who walked for both Balenciaga and Vetements this season — and was reportedly styled by Gvasalia's frequent collaborator Lotta Volkova Adam. The graphic printed fur jacket worn by Backus didn't debut on the fall runway, but perhaps it's part of the pre-fall collection that's been kept tightly under wraps?
A request for confirmation was not immediately returned by Balenciaga, but we'll update when we know more.
