Much like its designs, New York-based label Mansur Gavriel tends to keep its advertising simple. Thus far, the preferred method has been posting quiet images — featuring either faceless models or adorable, exotic animals to keep the main focus on the stellar product — around the city, guerilla-style, adding to the "in the know" connotation that comes with carrying one of its handbags. While Rachel Mansur and Floriana Gavriel will continue with this urban wheatpasting strategy, they've made their first high-profile model hire for their newest campaign: IMG signee Hari Nef.
Nef is a well-known activist in the trans community and a rising runway star who's walked for the likes of Gucci, Hood by Air and H&M. She's also a writer and actress who made her television debut on the second season of the hit series "Transparent." For the Mansur Gavriel campaign, Nef was shot in Fort Tilden, New Jersey by photography duo (and twin sisters) Tanya and Zhenya Posternak. "We think Hari is very beautiful, and were excited to shoot her," said the designers in a statement about the new images. "She is real and has great energy." The other stars of the campaign are the brand's mini bucket bag (shown in a bright red) as well as the new Sun bag (a ladylike top handle tote with a simple tie closure in the front), which made its debut at the fall 2016 presentation during New York Fashion Week. If previous season releases are any indication, you're going to want to go ahead and get your name on a waiting list for the latter, stat.
