Now, in mid-May, is precisely the time that I start to picture my summer plans. Whether that means plotting a mini-vacation or simply reevaluating my warm-weather wardrobe, I like to give myself the time to idly fantasize about the season ahead. After a crazy winter, we've all earned at least that much, right?
As part of my annual pre-summer tradition, I took inventory of my swimwear — and it's a pretty dire situation in that drawer. It's not like I don't have any bathing suits, but I will tell you that I haven't gone shopping for a new one in earnest since, uh, early college. It's hard for me to justify dropping $100 (or, oftentimes, more) on an item of clothing I'll wear just a number of times over the course of a three-month period. But as a general sun-loving, beach-going person, I do enjoy spending as much time doing bathing suit-adjacent activities as possible. I know it'll be money well-spent, and there's no place I'd rather hand over my cash for the purposes of swimwear than J.Crew.
I've written about my preference for J.Crew suits in the past (like last July, for instance), and this pretty seersucker bikini is the latest model to have stolen my heart. The easy French silhouette is both classic and chic, as well as oh-so-timely for the Cannes Film Festival that's happening as I type these words on my laptop. The neckline would provide adequate support for my tiny chest, while the briefs seem to be wide enough to cover my butt. And in that timeless print, I'm confident this two-piece will last me, oh, another six years at least.
J.Crew Gingham Seersucker French Bikini, $96 for both top and bottom, available at J.Crew.
