I'm not exactly a die-hard Justin Bieber fan, but I'm not not a fan of his, either. I'd go to his concert if someone went through the effort of excavating the depths of StubHub for me, and I'd probably have a really fun time watching his compact, muscle-y body scooting around on stage. Would I ever color myself as being someone who would first seek out, then purchase $40 worth of official Belieber tour merchandise, though? Probably not, no — but here we are! Life is full of surprises!
Much has been made on the Internet (this site included) of the evolution and recent legitimization of music merchandise, with Bieber serving as one of the most prevalent subjects. The goods for his "Purpose" tour aren't only nice-looking, aesthetically, but they're also entirely relevant trend-wise; his merch embodies a certain streetwear sophistication that everyone is trying to emulate.
I love this T-shirt, and my love for its overall design almost outweighs my love for Bieber himself. Does that make me a "poser," as teens used to say in my day? Yeah, kind of — but I'm okay with it. I support the Bieber #brand as it exists now, and isn't that what music merch is all about?
