Rihanna — multi-platinum recording artist and noted nipple-freer — was photographed exiting a building on Wednesday evening in New York City. Though it remains unclear where she was leaving and/or where she was headed, fashion's favorite Bad Gal took the excursion as an opportunity to give an otherwise familiar piece of clothing new life. The garment in question? The shin-length, emerald green lace dress that opened Gucci's spring 2016 runway show, and that, on Wednesday, Rihanna opted to wear without any sort of lining.
As is the case with much of Gucci's Alessandro Michele-designed offerings, we've seen this particular frock plenty of places since it first came down that catwalk last September. Julia Roberts wore it to present an award in October, for starters, while Lexi Boling donned it for a February 2016 editorial for Vogue Korea. But never have we seen it without the slip, which is where Rihanna, nipples blazing in black briefs, came in. It was a bold wardrobe move, but one that she executed with aplomb, as has been the case with every single sartorial choice she's made in the last, oh, decade.
May we all go about our lives with the same reckless abandon of opaque undergarments as one Robyn Fenty.
