The Internet Hates Taylor Swift's Met Gala Outfit

Her new, 'Vogue'-inspired aesthetic isn't a hit with everyone.

Taylor Swift introduced the world to her post-"1989" aesthetic in the least subtle way possible: on the cover of the May issue of Vogue. In her Mert and Marcus-shot spread, Swift wore looks by Vetements, Marc Jacobs and Saint Laurent, debuting an edgy beauty look to go along with them — specifically, a bleach-blonde mop that seemed to be inspired by Hedi Slimane's Californian model/musician muses.

As it turns out, the pop star is really taking her Anna Wintour-approved makeover and running with it. Over the past couple of weeks, she's really stepped out of her sartorial comfort zone, wearing pieces that are grungier, more fashion-forward and generally cooler than the cutesy ensembles we're used to. As a co-host at Monday night's Met Gala, the New Taylor was out in full force, thanks to a tiered, metallic cutout minidress by Louis Vuitton, paired with sandals laced all the way up her legs. Unsurprisingly, the fine folks on social media had a lot to say about it. (Full disclosure: Team Fashionista isn't particularly fond of this outfit either.)

The responses to Swift's look range from slightly salty to downright scathing, and for your reading pleasure, we've rounded up our favorites below. What say you about this ensemble?
