Gucci's Creative Director Alessandro Michele is a bit of an enigma — but one thing's for sure: dude has perfect hair. Sure, images of Chrissy Teigen and Alexa Chung may be more often invoked when the subject of "dream hair" comes up, but browse through just a few photos of Michele and you'll see what we're talking about. With its lush abundance, multi-tonal chestnut hue, incredible luster and effortless looking waves, his hair is undoubtedly what the person who first coined the term #HairGoals had in mind. We've waxed poetic on his personal style plenty, but now we turn to his seriously enviable strands. Here's how to re-create his look yourself (or at least come as close as a mere mortal can hope to).
"It's thick and luscious, strong and long," says hairstylist Nick Arrojo. "You can see it's a well-kept head of hair. Alessandro looks like he's careful with the products he chooses and is probably using a deep-conditioning treatment as well." So if you were under the impression that achieving Alessandro-level hair was going to be easy, sorry friends. In order to get that healthy shine, Arrojo stresses the importance of getting regular trims. He also recommends using a deep conditioner, like the Whipped Treatment from his own line — which is spiked with a hydrating blend of olive oil and shea butter — once a week.
As for re-creating Michele's soft waves, the first step is to arm yourself with the proper tool: a medium-barrel curling iron like the Beachwaver S1. After prepping hair with a heat protection spray and blow-drying it smooth, wrap sections of hair around the iron in alternating directions ("this creates a more natural-looking curl," says Arrojo). It's also important to note that Michele's waves are concentrated toward the mid-lengths and ends; so start to wrap your curls at about eye-level, not above. A quick mist of shine-enhancing hairspray (try R + Co Foil Frizz + Static Spray) and you're well on your way to hanging out with Jared Leto on a red carpet.
