Anyone who works in fashion can tell you that messengers are the true unsung heroes of the industry. When it comes to carefully delivering delicate samples on time and intact, everyone from top publishing houses to luxury brands rely on these nimble couriers, often putting (literally) priceless garments under their watch. So, it's fitting that the intro video at Monday's CFDA Awards highlighted the almighty messenger, giving viewers a glimpse into what a typical day is like — hopping from one glamorous location to the next and dealing with borderline bizarre fashion people behavior.
In the clip, Tony-winning actress Sarah Jones portrays bike messenger Rashid (as well as a call center operator and Diane von Furstenerg's high-strung receptionist), who's tasked with a full day of pre-CFDA pick ups from the likes of Tommy Hilfiger, Thom Browne, Tory Burch, Zac Posen, Public School/DKNY's Dao-Yi Chow and Maxwell Osbourne and more. Of course, hilarity ensues, and the film touches on some of the most pervasive industry stereotypes, including fashion's obsession with meditation, deejaying as a side-gig and preferences for over-the-top, slightly obnoxious floral arrangements.
Rashid takes it all in stride and you can't help but giggle at his bemusement of the situations he finds himself in. Watch the clip in full above.
