The liquid cat eye is a notoriously tricky eyeliner technique, but it's also one of the most sought-after. Leave it to makeup artist Lisa Eldridge to offer up proof that creating a cat eye is totally doable — and can even be quick and easy, if you follow the steps outlined in her latest video tutorial:
In the video, Eldridge says that this is the cat-eye technique she uses when she's in a rush, since it takes only a few minutes. A slightly modified take on the traditional version of this look, it focuses the liner just at the outer corners of the eyes, rather than all along the lash line. This, says Eldridge, has a variety of other benefits in addition to the fact that it makes the whole process quicker: It makes closely spaced eyes appear wider and further apart; makes round eyes appear more almond; and works well on hooded lids.
Another thing that sets Eldridge's technique apart from the typical cat-eye process is that she uses a liquid eyeliner as well as a matte black powder eye shadow for a soft, seamless effect. Watch the full video above to see exactly how she does it.
