Elle Fanning is having a fantastic week. Aside from receiving a little something called her high school diploma, the 18-year-old is wrapping up the press tour for her upcoming film "The Neon Demon," which hits theaters on June 24. The high-gloss thriller, which explores the dark side of the modeling world, is quite the departure for the actress: it's filled with scenes of graphic violence and sex and depicts controversial industry tropes (ie: that models have an expiration date). But dramatic fashion and bold beauty looks play pivotal roles in the film as well, so Fanning has gone all-out sartorially on red carpets to promote it.
At the Los Angeles premiere on Tuesday night, Fanning turned up the sparkle in a sequined, floral column gown by Dolce and Gabbana and accented it with a minimal ballerina-esque bun and pink glitter eyeshadow that complemented her dress. Despite the mature role she plays, the look is sweet, youthful and a lot of fun — much like the D&G fall 2016 runway show that celebrated fairy tales and Disney princesses. To show her little sister support, Dakota Fanning walked the red carpet as well, similarly decked out in sequins: She opted for a blue and black embroidered minidress from Monique Lhuillier's resort 2016 collection. While the look was cute and certainly on-theme for the evening, it didn't excite us nearly as much as her beauty choices.
Not only did the 22-year-old choose a baby blue nail polish to accent her dress and incorporate an icy blue shadow into her smokey eye, she found glitter in a perfectly coordinating shade to comb into her roots, giving her simple center part a very glamorous upgrade. We'll certainly be giving this technique a try at home.
