If ever there was an appropriate time to use the cat-with-heart-eyes emoji, it's right damn now. That's really the only appropriate reaction to the feline-covered, long-sleeved Dolce & Gabbana dress Elle Fanning wore to a press event for her new film "The Neon Demon" in Los Angeles on Monday.
Fashion cats aren't exactly a new phenomenon — we've documented their proliferation over the past few years — but with this look, Fanning has officially won the fashion cat game (which, honestly, we didn't know we were playing until now).
The 18-year-old actress topped it all off with a black bow headband that Blair Waldorf Herself could have picked out. It's worth noting that this more youthful look is a departure from what Fanning has worn during many of her recent press appearances. Stylist Samantha McMillen, who has been working with the 18-year-old to refine and hone her style, has focused on bridging the gap from teen to adult. "As an adult now, you start to see things a little bit differently and you can try things that are slightly more mature and see how it fits and how it works and if you can carry it off," McMillen told Fashionista in a previous interview. "It's a different thing, a different mindset, and I think that she's ready for it and she's all in." This tailored dress has an obvious playfulness to it that seems to acknowledge that Fanning, style icon though she may be, is still an 18-year-old girl (in Dolce & Gabbana, no less).
Cat-with-heart-eyes emoji, indeed.
