Sure, the narrative of 14-year-old Kaia Gerber's career is that she's following in the footsteps of her supermodel mom Cindy Crawford. But in a new photo shoot, Crawford, in a way, follows in Gerber's.
They both appear in the latest issue of Chrome Hearts' bi-annual magazine, modeling the latest from the Los Angeles-based, rock-and-roll-inspired accessories brand. Gerber even wears a tongue-in-cheek reference to her mom in the form of Reformation's Cindy Crawford sweatshirt. “Yes, you can make a career out of doing what you love," says Crawford in the magazine. "But there’s some days where it still sucks. It’s still work, and that you do it anyway. That’s like a life internship for them – watching us.”
While it marks Crawford's first time modeling for the brand, Gerber's been a muse for Chrome Hearts for a while; she was a face of its spring 2016 eyewear campaign back in February (pictured below). The budding model has appeared in Alexander Wang's most recent SS16 campaign, and has also appeared in editorials for fashion magazines including Self Service, Teen Vogue and Vogue Paris. (You might have heard of them.)
Gerber and her older brother, Presley, are both currently signed with IMG Models. Kaia began her contract when she was only 13, three years younger than her mom was when she was first signed. Slay.
