Alright, I'm well aware that clumpy, thick, spidery lashes are A Thing right now. I'm a beauty editor and can appreciate how cool they look on the runway when you're Gigi Hadid. But when it comes to my IRL beauty routine, I just want to look like I have naturally luscious, crazy-long lashes that belong to a human — not like I rubbed a crusty layer of dried-out shoe polish around my eyes. Is that so much to ask? After trying literally every mascara I could get my hands on for years, I finally found my lash soulmate (lashmate?): Marc Jacobs Beauty's Feather Noir Ultra-Skinny Lash Discovering Mascara.

Other than its almost comically wordy name (practically a requirement for mascaras these days, it seems), this mascara is absolutely perfect — at least according to my personal set of requirements.

First, there's the brush: It's super skinny and stuck on the end of a long handle for maximum stability. The narrowness and length, combined with the very short bristles, allow you to get all up in your lash line and grab every single hair, even the tiniest ones. In fact, there's actually some merit to that whole "lash discovering" claim in the product name. It scoops up and coats even the thinnest, most minuscule lashes, making your lash line appear overall fuller — in a natural way.

And the formula? It's perfectly glossy, supremely black, and buildable without ever turning clumpy or gloppy or flaky. It also doesn't irritate or dry out my sensitive eyes and takes just a few swipes to make my undeniably puny lashes seemingly double in length. I could continue to wax poetic about the slim, of-course-it's-chic-it's-Marc-Jacobs packaging, impressive staying power and how long a tube will last you (a really long time!). But you get the point: I'm probably unhealthily obsessed with this mascara and will now commence hoarding it for fear of ever runing out.
