If there's one thing that my mom has instilled in me and my sort-of-strict skin-care routine, it's the importance of putting sunscreen on my face every single day. Or SPF, as she simply calls it. ("Put on SPF!" she'll often command.) For a very long time I used a version from Neutrogena that always made my skin extra oily. I managed to swap that out for a Shiseido product that's lightweight and runny, but it leaves a slight white cast on my face, which, I must admit, kind of irks me when I'm a shade or two tanner in the summer.
So I've made the recent switch to this Tatcha sunscreen after learning about it on YouTube. (Confession, or hey, maybe a hack: I get most of my beauty product recommendations from YouTube vloggers who appear to have the same skin tone and type as me.) For now, I've put my Shiseido bottle on hold, knowing that I'll return to it for days on the beach where I'll need the extra SPF points and water-resistance.
So far, Tatcha's sunscreen has been splendid. The formula is thicker, but still lightweight, and ingredients like Japanese wild rose apparently tighten my pores and smooth out my skin tone with each application. I've also noticed my that skin tint (from Glossier) feels almost effortless when I put it on afterwards. Yes, the price for this product is steep, but only a tiny dollop is required to cover my entire face, thus lasting longer on my beauty shelf than expected.
