This week kicked off with Monday night's 2016 CFDA Awards, which means a mix of fashion's big names and on-the-rise players touched down in New York City, including a surprise appearance from Queen B herself to accept the unannounced Fashion Icon award. We have to admit that a good chunk of our best-dressed list features attendees from that same evening, the majority of whom happened to wear all-black or all-white without looking dull and boring. The fashion tip to make it work? Make sure your outfit features texture or surprising details, like Soko's silver collar bow by Gucci, or Hanne Gaby Odiele's buttons and fringe from Derek Lam.

In other red carpet (and front row) news, a current 1D-er and a former 1D-er got into the fashion scene this week. Zayn Malik, in a printed Louis Vuitton shirt, made an appearance at Thursday night's amfAR Inspiration Gala, where he took the stage to present the label's men's designer Kim Jones with the Award of Inspiration for his work against AIDS. Across the pond, Niall Horan stopped by London Collections: Men, which kicked off on Friday. He sat front row at Oliver Spencer, dressed in Oliver Spencer (duh) and, according to Horan, his first time solo at a fashion show "was really good." Cheers!
