No one in fashion knows how to throw a rager quite as rowdy as Alexander Wang — proven time and time again through his ad campaigns featuring neon-lit party busses and fashion week after-parties that have included concerts, carnivals, ice luges, beer pong and catering by Hooters. Back in September, to celebrate his spring 2016 collection and his 10th anniversary in business, he constructed a makeshift gentleman's club inside of Pier 94. His traditional show venue was transformed as pole dancers (clad head-to-toe in Wang athleisure) demonstrated their mesmerizing skills during live performances by Tinashe, Lil Wayne and Ludacris.
In keeping with said theme, Wang showed argyle sweaters for both pre-fall and fall that included the pole dancer motif in a surprisingly tasteful way. Sure, this cheeky, slightly naughty knit might not be appropriate for all occasions — say, Thanksgiving dinner at your conservative grandparents' house — but it's fun as hell and could turn any boring, weekday ensemble into a party-ready one. The price is certainly steep for a knit, but you should see the smile that comes to my face every time I pull it up and (however briefly) consider purchasing it. Bring it on fall, let's dance.
Knit pullover, $650, available at Alexander Wang.
