Usually, no matter how swelteringly hot it gets outside, actresses and other famouses continue to wear sleeves or knits or jackets without breaking a sweat. It's like they've had their entire body purged of sweat glands. (See Kim Kardashian this weekend in a sweater dress at the Hamptons.)
But on Saturday, notable German and Fashionista style obsession Diane Kruger stepped out onto the sizzling New York City streets in an outfit that actually makes sense for extreme heat — without overexposing skin. On the day after her 40th birthday (celebrities: turns out they're not just like us!), Kruger wore a fantastic Hawaiian-style collared shirt, complete with short sleeves, an open collar and bold, colorful print. She paired it with more serious pieces: a black miniskirt (which looks like silk, but hopefully it's more breathable than that), a Chanel chain-strap crossbody and silver flatform sandals. One assumes she also paired it with SPF 500, because she has the skin of an unblemished teenager.
The result is a look that's as festive as it is fresh, while still retaining that understated Kruger brand of cool we've come to know, love and desperately attempt to imitate. Happy birthday, Diane!
