Katie Grand, famed stylist and editor-in-chief of Love magazine, was certainly one of the industry's earliest adopters of the "social media model" phenomenon. Not only did she feature the likes of Cara Delevingne, Kendall Jenner, and the Hadid sisters in Love's pages long before many of the mainstream publications were paying attention, she's helped them land huge breaks on the runway — like when Jenner made her surprise runway debut at the Marc Jacobs fall 2014 show. In addition to being a cheerleader for this new generation of Instagirls, Grand is also apparently giving them a platform to experiment creatively and test the waters of other fields within the fashion world, from writing to photography.
For the upcoming issue of Love, Jenner — who has teased her budding interest in photography on Instagram over the years — got behind the lens to shoot up-and-coming model Kaia Gerber for an editorial. Considering both girls grew up in California with their families in the spotlight, we're guessing that they had a lot to talk about on set. Jenner and Gerber each teased the above image over social media, and the casual vibe, in both the styling and the pose, leads us to believe that it was a pretty natural pairing. Plus, Gerber is certainly not the worst subject when it comes to shooting your first print editorial.
Could Jenner be shooting campaigns and covers instead of starring in them before we know it? Watch this space, and pick up the new Love when it hits newsstands this week.
