After Michelle Obama kicked things off on the first day of the Democratic National Convention in Philadelphia, it was clear that she not only raised the bar in terms of delivering a poignant message to everyone watching, but sartorially speaking, she didn't disappoint (but then again, does she ever?).
Day two saw several female celebrities including Meryl Streep, Lena Dunham, American Ferrera, Elizabeth Banks and Debra Messing make appearances on the DNC stage to show their support for Hillary Clinton. When it came to outfit choices, some took a cue from Obama and let their words take center stage; Dunham kept things très chic in a minimal off-the-shoulder midi dress designed by Gabriela Hearst, while fellow actress and friend Ferrera opted for a black sheath dress with white accent piping courtesy of Black Halo. (We'd also like to take a moment to point out the fact that Ferrera's dress is currently in stock and on sale.)
However, no one embodied patriotism more fervently last night than Meryl Streep, whose Catherine Malandrino Flag Dress had the actress literally wearing her political orientation on her sleeve. Eagle-eyed Streep fans will notice immediately that this isn't the first time she's worn the dress in public: She previously wore the piece at the Paris premiere of the film "Doubt" way back in 2008, which leads us to believe that Meryl Streep a) actually purchased this dress and b) has been waiting for the perfect opportunity to pull it out again. The DNC certainly qualifies, and we give props to Streep for her bold outfit choice — and even bolder words to Trump. (Seriously, check out the first seconds of her speech below. Homegirl is pumped.)
