Fashionista's "How to Make It in Fashion" conference is heading back to New York City on Nov. 4, and with our lineup of speakers, you're not going to want to miss out. Case in point? Linda Rodin, this year's beauty keynote.
Revered for her impeccable personal style as well as her beauty industry prowess, Rodin got her start in fashion, running a successful New York City boutique in the 1970s. After a stint as a stylist at Henri Bendel, she became a fashion editor at Harper's Bazaar, eventually becoming a freelance stylist, working with celebrities and supermodels. It was through her fashion career — and accompanying exposure to the best beauty products on the market at the time — that Rodin became determined to create her own streamlined take on skin care. She took it upon herself to experiment with essential oils in her bathroom for nearly two years in order to formulate and perfect her first product, the original Rodin Olio Lusso Face Oil — a cult product if ever there was one — which launched in 2007. Its overwhelming success has since translated to an accompanying body oil, hair oil, lip balm, hand cream, perfume, scented candle, facial cleansing powder — and, most recently, lipsticks.
In October of 2014, it was announced that Rodin Olio Luso had been acquired by The Estée Lauder Companies. At the time of the acquisition, Estée Lauder President and CEO Fabrizio Freda explained the decision, describing Rodin Olio Lusso as "the ultimate 'insider' beauty brand," and noting that "it has the potential to be a high-growth global skin care brand that strategically enhances our portfolio."
