Margot Robbie jumped seamlessly from the "Tarzan" press tour to promoting her next high-profile film, "Suicide Squad" this summer — meaning her stylist Kate Young is probably working overtime as we reap the benefits of head-turning look after look after look. This weekend in New York City, Robbie was out and about despite the random bursts of rain in fantastic black-and-white frocks (the Australian actress loves sleek, monochromatic outfits) with some extra-fun flourishes of florals and ruffles.
Monday saw her in a striped, shoulder-baring, bell-sleeved, godet dress from Rosetta Getty (above), perfect for getting business done on a temperamental summer Monday.
On Sunday, Robbie opted for a Altuzarra "Priscilla" floral handkerchief dress from the fall 2016 collection. Sensing a silhouette theme here? This style's bohemian, floral design feels particularly apropos for working on the weekend.
Robbie went with separates on Saturday, pairing a layered, floral, lace and grommet A-line skirt from Proenza Schouler with a simple knit top from the same brand. The combination is perhaps a bit warm for the season (Saturday saw a high of 84 degrees Fahrenheit) but she makes it look sharp and easy. The textured braids are a chic choice, too.
Alright, these final two looks aren't from the weekend; sue me. During the summer, Thursdays are basically Fridays anyway. And I would be remiss to mention the floral, ruffled Gucci perfection Robbie wore to something or other on Thursday. She usually keeps things quite sleek and minimalist (her Calvin Klein campaign didn't come out of nowhere, after all) so it's refreshing to see her try something a little more overtly feminine. And those shoes!
And finally, we have a sexy Elie Saab situation worn for a visit to Jimmy Fallon's "Tonight Show" couch. (It was taped on Thursday and aired on Friday.) Wearing such a short frock to sit down while on television isn't probably the best idea, but I'm sure that Vanity Fair profile writer enjoyed it. Regardless, the combination of the neck strap, open shoulders and ruffled hems on the top and bottom of the arms is truly delightful.
It marks yet another win for Robbie, who's proven she can't lose when it comes to promo tour fashion. The movie doesn't even come out until Friday so stay tuned for even more serious servings of fashion, care of Robbie and Young, in the coming week.
