Rachel Comey Studio is seeking immediate full time and part time interns to join our team. We are an NYC based womenswear brand that grew out of the downtown arts scene of the early 2000s, and have become known for collections with artful custom textiles, graceful modern silhouettes, and covetable footwear.
This is a great opportunity to learn from close involvement and one-on-one with a supervisor, and interface with other departments in a close studio environment. The intern, through this internship, will acquire some valuable experience/knowledge about the fashion industry. This is not an employment position, but we can offer credit towards course completion. Full time internship (5 days per week) qualifies for a paid metro-card.
Availability: openings immediately, or can discuss future sessions/ coordinate with school schedule. For best results, minimum of 3 full day/ week commitment is recommended. Minimum term is 3 months.
Tasks include: working closely with the production manager/production assistant and factories in Midtown Manhattan. Day to day will include assisting with assembly of production materials and cut tickets, PO creation, trims and fabrics sourcing, pattern distribution, etc.
Tasks include: working closely with the Creative department to brainstorm and assist in the creation/layout of branded materials
Tasks include: participation in creation of weekly analytics, researching new stores, shadowing the sales team in showroom appointments and maintenance. Must have experience with Word and Excel.
Tasks include: shadowing the e-commerce manager with daily operations relating to inventory, shipping, site maintenance/merchandising and customer service; participating in weekly marketing planning meetings; shadowing the press manager and seeing the process of editorial pulls and tracking; participating in production of e-commerce and marketing photoshoots.
Tasks include: shadowing the fabric developer in the process of sending lab dips to fabric mills, sending out/tracking fabric developments to mills, organizing sample reference pages into master season books, participating in creation of charts tracking sample fabric ordered from fabric shows, organizing fabric selections for design meetings
Tasks include: researching trends, new materials, trims and color palettes; participation in creation of initial concepts, design sketches and innovations for footwear and accessory ranges. Must be proficient in Adobe Indesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator.
Tasks include: researching trends, silhouettes, fabric treatments, embellishment and trim; participation in creation of initial concepts and design sketches for all RTW and Knitwear categories; shadowing the sample manager in the sample development process and visiting local factories and suppliers. Must be proficient in Adobe Indesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator.
Candidates must have a fashion design background and an interest in patternmaking and draping. Prior experience with sample rooms and design development is a plus, but looking most for organized and driven interns.
