The Models at Prada's Spring 2017 Show Basically Wore Margot Tenenbaum Hair

Side parts for the win.

We'll be honest: The hair and makeup at Prada's spring 2017 show was a tad underwhelming, especially in comparison to the gold statement lips Pat McGrath created for last spring's show. The makeup was anything but flashy, while hair was a study in precision and control. But with the deep side parts and bobby pins, one iconic image came to mind: Margot Tenenbaum, Gwyneth Paltrow's character in The Royal Tenenbaums.

But hairstylist Guido Palau's true inspiration for the look, Vogue reports, was Virgina Woolf and "'20s-style bob," meaning seven models got — you guessed it! — backstage haircuts, a repeat (albeit on a smaller scale) of what went on before Alexander Wang's spring show. "There's a Virginia Woolf feeling to the hair," Palau told Vogue. "It's a palate cleanser, in a way — we've seen quite extreme hair and makeup, and this is extreme in its simplicity."
