Ear Makeup is Still Going Strong, According to Proenza Schouler

The trend continues.

Ear makeup isn't new; we first saw it on the runway at Anthony Vaccarello's spring 2015 show in Paris, and then on models at Opening Ceremony's fall 2016 show. Additionally, French makeup artist Violette created her own metallic take on it. Hell, even Donald Trump has reportedly put makeup on his ears (fine, in his case it's a little different). And the trend is still going strong for spring 2017: Bold swatches of color on the ears were pretty much the only makeup models wore on the Proenza Schouler runway.

To play off the oversized black and white earrings that complemented many looks, makeup artist Diane Kendal accented models' ears with MAC Chromacake pigment in either yellow or bright white.

Other than that one accent, the makeup was minimal; Kendal left models' eyes and lips completely bare and just evened out their complexions with foundation and concealer as needed.

The nail look also played on minimalism and graphic shapes: The models' nails were kept bare, with the exception of various swooshes and lines made using glossy black polish (China Glaze in Liquid Leather, to be exact). Much like the clothing Proenza Schouler shows each season, artistry was the name of the game.
