We've (finally) arrived at a relatively sleepy time of year in the industry, nestled right between fashion month and awards season. While we all could use a little breather, we're happy to report that, thanks to end-of-year movie premieres and glitzy galas, the red carpets are still providing us with plenty of glamorous eye candy. Of course, the MVP of the week was Michelle Obama, who attended her last state dinner as First Lady in a custom, rose gold chainmail Atelier Versace gown that should probably go down in history as one of the greatest White House fashion moments of all time. Rachel McAdams also opted for an Atelier Versace look on Thursday evening at the premiere of "Doctor Strange." With its contrasting lavender lining, high slit and structural bow detail, she looked every bit the leading lady.

Elsewhere, Tavi Gevinson attended the opening of "The Cherry Night" on Broadway wearing a sequined, embroidered Gucci gown from Alessandro Michele's fall 2016 collection — a piece that only an ingenue like her could pull off — and Tilda Swinton, who is a long-time Fashionista red-carpet favorite, hit the premiere of "Doctor Strange" in a gilded Haider Ackermann dress, accented with a hot pink lip and a cool-as-hell ear cuff. Up-and-comer Ruth Negga looked angelic in an all-white Valentino, and Louis Vuitton face Alicia Vikander did her duties well in two flawless looks by the French house.
