I'm a sucker for good, minimalist beauty product packaging. But, as is the case with refrigerators and awkward tweens in any given episode of Full House, it's what's on the inside that really counts. And the real trick is finding the perfect intersection of form and function — chic outer design, legit ingredients, effective results and also a pleasant user experience (meaning it should also smell and feel nice). This shampoo and conditioner duo, created by hairstylist Wendy Iles, checks all of those boxes.
In all honesty, I pretty much wrote them off at first. I mean, look at them. How could something so beautiful have anything of substance going on inside? I had the black and white bottles sitting on my shelf, looking pretty for months. And then a beauty editor friend told me she was a huge fan; the formula had transformed her damaged hair. Since said friend now has gorgeous, flowing, un-damaged hair, I had to give it a try. And she was right: It's good. The sulfate-free shampoo gets hair clean, but does so gently, imparting a light, nuanced (not overly perfume-y) floral scent and plenty of shine, thanks to vitamin B5 and silk proteins. The vitamin E and hydrolyzed silk-spiked conditioner detangles and smooths hair with ease, and it's rich, yet rinses out cleanly (a must for my fine hair). I'm totally sold on the formula of both.
...But it certainly doesn't hurt that they look so pretty, either.
