At the beginning of New York Fashion Week last February, my friend sent me a new bag (and survival kit) from her label Proper Assembly. Dubbed "The No. 7 Whatever Bag," its main purpose is just that. I've used it to separately store shoes in my luggage when I'm traveling, or I often find myself carrying it for random reasons: recently bought items that need to be returned, purchases from a Duane Reade run or clothes for a fitness class after work.

The dark denim material, embroidered patch and silver logo print makes this bag much more stylish than those disposable canvas totes that have been piling up in my dresser. Plus, the short handles and drawstring cord makes it more comfortable to lug around. Sure, this bag's name downplays its purpose — but I've found it be so useful for literally whatever I need.
